The Big Give 2023
Double your donation - now live!
From midday 28 November to midday 5 December
The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2023 is the perfect opportunity to make a gift to the Charlie Waller Trust as your donation will be doubled.
From midday on Tuesday 28 Nov to midday on Tuesday 5 Dec, every donation made on our Big Give campaign page will be matched until we reach our target of £50,000. This means your donation will have twice the impact!
Your donation will directly support our work with schools.
We are here every step of the way...
Why do young people need your help?
Young people in the UK have higher mental health need than ever. 1 in 6 young people in England (aged 5 to 16) experienced a mental health problem in 2020, up from 1 in 9 in 2017, according to the NHS.
Many young people today need support with their mental health – but too many are not getting it. That can have a really negative impact – on their confidence, their education and their future.
Often their parents, carers and teachers are extremely eager to help but don’t know the best way to go about it.
The training has been such a vital tool in my recovery, without me even knowing it! It gave my mum the tools to help me when I needed it.

We support young people every step of the way
Exam anxiety for me is very real and when I feel stressed about exams I often find myself just revising constantly…my parents know that’s not the best thing for me. Spending time with an adult who has been through it before is really comforting.
Siena, secondary school pupil
Through our schools programme, we help young people learn to look after their mental health from a young age. We work with pupils, staff, parents, carers, helping schools create a culture of positive mental wellbeing.
We’re there especially at those key moments when young people can be most vulnerable to mental health problems – moving from primary to secondary school, on to college or university and into the world of work.
Getting support early is key to preventing later mental health problems - 50% of mental health problems begin before the age of 14, according to the Mental Health Foundation. Our expert training and resources give children and young people the skills to spot when they might be struggling and to ask for help – skills that last a lifetime.
Help us continue our vital work
The Big Give is a wonderful opportunity to raise funds to continue our crucial work. We would be extremely grateful for any donation you would like to make – and we’re delighted that it will be doubled thanks to the Big Give and our generous match funders.
One donation, twice the impact.
How your donation will help
A donation of £5 will double to £10 which pays for us to send a copy of our Wellbeing Action Plan to 10 young adults.
A donation of £15 will double to £30 which pays for us to send a pack of our '5 ways to wellbeing' bookmark to a school, so every pupil can have one.
A donation of £25 will double to £50 which pays for us to send a copy of our booklet, Supporting a Child with Anxiety, to 50 individual parents.
Supporting resources for you
For our Big Give campaign, we’ve launched a new podcast episode in our Stigma to Strength series. It’s called Life Transitions and it’s all about those big moments of change in our lives like going to college or university, and how to look after your mental health. Listen today and please do share with family and friends.
We are also running two FREE webinars. The first one will look at how to support young people’s mental health and the second will focus on helping adolescents with anxiety. Sign-up now to secure your space.
[When I’m not feeling great] my mum gives me support and plays board games with me to make me happy and calm.
