The Trust was honoured to be chosen as one of the beneficiary charities for the annual BGC Charity Day in memory of employees who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks.

Some days in the life of a charity are very special. Days you know are really going to help the cause.

This Monday was one of those.

We were privileged to be one of the beneficiaries of the BGC Charity Trading Day, held annually in memory of employees who died in the attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York City.

To be selected was wonderful and we were incredibly fortunate to have Clare Balding as our ambassador for the day.

To say Clare went beyond the call of duty in supporting the Trust on the day is an understatement!

She worked the phones, closing mammoth trade deals and spreading the word about the importance of young people’s health.

She did all this brilliantly, as we knew she would. She also, however, had no hesitation in posing for photos with some, er, unusual companions…

The theme for this year’s Trading Day was ‘farmyard fun’ and Clare gamely agreed to be snapped with this very cute meerkat.

Clare has supported the Trust on many occasions over the years. She said:

“It’s a big deal for the Charlie Waller Trust to get selected for this.

"Because not only does it raise funds, but it also allows us a chance to talk about the work that the charity is doing to support young people.”

Clare shares her thoughts about the BGC Charity Day and the Charlie Waller Trust.

Rebecca Miles-Mallowan, the Trust’s Head of Communications, added:

“We are so thankful to have been part of the BGC Charity Day; it was a truly unique opportunity for us.

"And we are deeply grateful to Clare for her incredible support and participation. Her generosity, dedication and energy are inspiring!”
